How do you backup your computer data?

For my customers, I usually recommend LTO Ultrium tape drives that can back up, up to 3TB of data onto a single 4" data cartridge. For these kinds of solutions, drives and media can push costs above the $2000 to $4000 mark. But for most home users and Mom & Pop shop types of computer users this is generally overkill and way outside the typical budget.

What I am more interested in here, is what solutions do you, the Yahoo!Answers readers, use for your personal computer back ups? What do you like? I need specifics, model numbers if you have them. I will investigate each reasonable answer and make a buying decision on behalf of my customer based upon your suggestions and my research.

I would say that for most people a 1TB external HDD (such as Western Digital's $120 Elements Desktop WDBAAU0010HBK) would be more than enough.
Some people really only back up text/word documents, pictures, videos, and music, so even a 16GB-32GB flash drive would be enough for them. I'm a fan of Corsair's flash drives myself. You can find a 16GB Corsair Flash Voyager GT (CMFUSB2.0-16GBGT) for under $40.

Both are USB2.0 and are reverse-compatible with USB1.1.

AIT Tapes, SDLT Tapes, LTO tapes, DLT, LTO Ultrium Tapes, 4MM, 8MM Tapes,HP

LTO introduced as a powerful and scalable open tape architecture aimed at meeting the rising storage demands of contemporary servers.LTO tapes are mainly for intensive usage in libraries and long-term storage for archival purposes. Considering such high usage environments, the strength and durability of the cartridge is very important as well as that of the data tape itself.

LTO data tapes have a 100 GB native and an 800 GB compressed storage capacity. That's more than any DVD can store.Since 2002, LTO has been the best selling "super tape" format and is widely used with small and large computer systems, especially for backup.

LTO1, LTO2, LTO3, and LTO4 stand for the size of the GB storage capacity. The bigger the LTO number, the bigger the capacityThe LTO form Ultrium is a half-inch magnetic tape with a single reel (contrasting with the 8mm double reel Accelis). The Ultrium was developed as a drop-in replacement for the DLT (developed by Digital Equipment Corporation and now owned by Quantum).

LTO Ultrium tape uses a single reel to maximize storage capacity and thus is better suited for archival use. An Ultrium LTO drive is also backward compatible and contains a strong error correction algorithm that makes data recovery possible when lost data is within one track or up to 32 mm of the tape medium.
